First Annual Winipeg Crankie Festival
Bringing a 19th century art form to 2018, the First Annual Winnipeg Crankie Festival runs September 21st through 23rd at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church. The forerunner to modern-day film, Crankies combine music, spoken word and visual arts into a singular form that has experienced a resurgence thanks to the likes of festival performers Anna & Elizabeth, a Virginia duo signed to Smithsonian Folkways, as well as Appalachian musician Sue Truman.
This three day festival features family-friendly interactive sessions, workshops and performances from locals Romi Mayes, Jess Reimer, Del Barber and more.
Advance tickets range from $5 for a single day pass to $20 for evening concerts and are available now along with a complete festival schedule at homeroutes.ca/crankiefestival so don’t miss out on the fun at the First Annual Winnipeg Crankie Festival, running September 21st to 23rd, proudly supported by 101.5 UMFM.
