How to Fake Clinical Depression Venue 9 – The
Rachel Browne Theatre (WCD Studio)
Meet
Steve. One day, he is browsing the Internet looking for work and notices and
ad on craigslist offering $1500 to be a subject for
a drug research study on depression. So, being an actor he reads up on
depression to prepare for his audition – aka
patient screening. This
story was not only very funny but also a stinging indictment of pharmaceutical
business practises - unqualified doctors prescribing strong doses, recruiting
desperate people for research and even the magic pill solutions drug
companies suggest in their marketing. Plus writer/performer Steven Marrocco
really does a nice job changing his delivery to help sell his material. - Justin Olynyk
