Morro and Jasp do Puberty

Venue 13 – Ragpickers Theatre

Morro and Jasp are sisters. They are both facing different challenges regarding puberty – Morro is dealing with her period and Jasp has a crush on a boy.

Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of clown shows at the Winnipeg Fringe, but this is the best clown show to come to Winnipeg since Shannan Calcutt’s Izzy the Clown. There are so many funny moments in the show including Jasp dreaming how beautiful her first period will be and Jasp making out with a doll.

I also really liked Jasp’s insecure character. She also did a great job acknowledging the audience’s laughter by nodding. However, I felt Morro’s hyper character was too over the top (and having a real character is important in a clown show) although she has some absolutely touching moments when she is too embarrassed to tell the audience that she is menstruating and at the end when she is struggling with a tampon.  Still, this is a terrific show that I hope you will see.
