Use The Whole Stage

When directing a show, you want to vary how different scenes are presented and use the whole stage. One show that beautifully does this is Remember The Night. Some scenes are staged at the front of the venue, others at the back of the audience and others are staged in an interrogation room above the stage. I was amazed when I found out that the group only had 2 days of rehearsals in the venue to figure out how to stage this show. Congrats to director Arne MacPherson for strategically using this venue.

Rolling the Dice

HEY ABBOTT! – A Classic Comedy Tribute Show not only features classic Abbott and Costello sketches but also links a story around the sketches. John Chase (who plays Bud Abbott) told me that they decided to frame a story around the sketches because they wanted the show to be similar in style to The Abbott and Costello TV show that ran in the early 1950s. In terms of storyline, they were thinking of Costello looking for a job, but when they heard the Fringe’s marketing campaign was Las Vegas, they decided to also use that idea for their show – Abbott and Costello go to Las Vegas.

Over Time

Warning. Morro and Jasp do Puberty is 66 minutes, not the 60 minutes listed in the program.
