RUNNING OUT Venue 9– The
Rachel Browne Theatre (WCD Studio)
RUNNING
OUT tells the
story of two characters – a middle aged woman who desperately wants to
get pregnant but is having trouble and an idealistic teenager who does not
want to get pregnant. This
story is beautifully structured. There are several points in the play when
similar things are happening to each character such as receiving the sperm
and relationship problems. The
script itself is highly ironic – sometimes people try very hard to
become pregnant but can’t whereas other people don’t want to
become pregnant but it unexpectedly happens. However,
I’m not sure if all of the movement in this piece worked. In
particular, near the end of the piece, I would have expected less movement as
the character’s options were becoming more and more restricted. - Justin Olynyk UMFM |
