The Saddest Girl in the World

Venue 11– Red River College

The Saddest Girl in the World alternates between two stories – a lonely clerk working in a jewellery shop and a recent immigrant from Kosovo who is underemployed as a janitor.

Both stories show two different people from different backgrounds trying to find their place in the world. It makes you wonder that there is something inherently wrong with a world that only values people on what they contribute to a business. The more interesting of the two stories is the story of the immigrant trying to adjust to a new country while overcoming discriminatory attitudes and I would have preferred a full play about this character.  Still, Tina Teeninga does a nice job shifting back and forth between the characters.
