Sophie’s only friend in the world is her baton. She is shy and is scared to talk to a fellow male baton twirler named Forest whom she has a crush on. Sophie’s goal in life is to become Canada’s national baton twirling champion.

Brigette DePape’s funny script is also full of deep thoughts about love and life. Unfortunately, I found the character of Sophie to be unbelievable. I couldn’t believe that someone this intelligent and articulate could be so lonely, sad and have no friends. Perhaps, less dialogue would have made this scenario more believable. Also, I thought her character lacked passion when she was talking about wanting to win the national championships.
