How Sweet It Is Venue 7– The
Conservatory
How
Sweet It Is tells
the story of a diabetic named Liz, who was diagnosed with diabetes at an
early age and has had trouble adjusting to a restricted diet. Elizabeth
McEachern does a nice job portraying the various characters in this
one-person show. Her father (also a diabetic) is short of breath, the health
instructor is manic and Liz herself is sad looking because she believes that
the diabetic restrictions will take all the fun out of life. Not
knowing much about diabetes, I found this show more interesting than many
other one person Fringe shows. Although there are some funny bits such as
seducing a chocolate bar or learning about all the lifestyle restrictions, it
is very uplifting to watch Liz’s character struggle and find a way to
be able to balance her life and diabetes. - Justin Olynyk UMFM |
