Backstage at the Mainstage
Thursday’s
Child tells the
story of a young woman whose life is going nowhere. She’s had bad luck with
boyfriends plus she feels she can never think of the right thing to say in a
conversation. I
didn’t care for this show. The script moves at a very slow pace until
the character realizes in the last 15 minutes that she needs to makes some
changes in her life; something which is obvious to the audience early in the
show. However, Vanessa Macrae does a lovely job changing her facial expressions
and manages to generate a few laughs out of her own weak material. - Justin Olynyk
