Woody Sed

Venue 5– Son of Warehouse

Woody Sed is a 60-minute journey through the life of legendary folk singer Woody Guthrie. Of course, the play is full of his songs including Bound for Glory and This Land is Your Land.

Thomas Jones does a nice job portraying Guthrie as a slow talking yet charming person. Jones also does a great job portraying the physical illness that would haunt Guthrie in his later years. Unfortunately, I thought the play was too ambitious – it tries to cover his whole life in one hour. As a result, important parts such as Guthrie travelling across the US during the Great Depression are glossed over.
