You Will Write, Won’t You
Venue 8 – School of Contemporary Dancers
A
teenager named Melissa has been accepted into a two month writer’s
workshop in Banff but she is wondering if she
should go or stay and spend the summer working on a friend’s farm.
Ron Blicq does a nice job adapting this script. The story
keeps moving at a nice pace. However, I would have staged this piece
differently. I would have had Melissa interacting in scenes with the various
characters and not just have the different characters speak to the audience
about whether she should stay or go. Also, I think the lead character of
Melissa needed to show more emotion. This is a difficult decision for her,
yet we don’t see it in her performance.
