CAMPUS RADIO 101.5 at the U of M is now accepting applications for the following Volunteer Directorships.

Directorships at UMFM are renewed annually. Applicants must be passionate about the role of campus and community radio, and available to attend monthly meetings during the school year. Minimum time commitment is at least ½ day a week, with some positions eligible for a monthly stipend based on the volume of work performed. Both campus & community members are encouraged to apply. No attachments, please.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

The Volunteer Co-ordinator is an HR position that requires excellent people skills. The successful applicant will provide the first point-of-contact for the station, receiving applications and steering volunteers down their path of interest. You will lead volunteer orientation sessions, arrange technical training sessions, and assist all station departments requiring additional volunteer power. The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the Program Director to help integrate new show hosts into UMFM. Knowledge of Campus and Community radio skills is essential.

PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

The Production Coordinator is both artistic and technically proficient. Knowledge of music and creative writing is most useful for the creation of top-quality pieces that serve as the station’s framework. They will also head up our new production team, liasing with the team members to ensure that projects are completed in a timely fashion. Assisting in the training of new producers and conducting production workshops are also key duties to this position.

NEW MEDIA/WEBSITE

The New Media Director combines the technical abilities involved in updating our website with the artistic vision to do so with flair and creativity. You will also provide the leadership and initiative to keep the site content dynamic and entertaining. The New Media director works closely with promotions, sales, and programming.

CAMPUS MEMBER AT LARGE

You will be representing UMFM at events on campus, helping to create student awareness of our programming, our services and organizing the distribution of flyers, posters and program guides at the U of M campus.

TECHNICAL COORDINATOR

If you have an interest in computer systems and broadcast engineering, we have an opportunity to apprentice with our long-time Technical Coordinator. You’ll also be working with our volunteer New Media director, as well as our contracted broadcast engineers to maintain our computer network, automation system and basic equipment.

COMMUNITY MEMBER AT LARGE

You will be bringing UMFM to the community, ensuring the distribution of charts, flyers, posters and program guides, plus ensuring representation of UMFM at station-sponsored events and functions.

POLICY & BOARD DEVELOPMENT

Working with UMSU and the station directorship, the successful candidate will help develop and facilitate board restructuring, as well as updating and amending our existing policies. Experience with volunteer boards and policies and procedures an asset.
