Com­pos­er Jean-Michel Blais began impro­vis­ing on his family’s organ at age 9 and by 11 he was writ­ing orig­i­nal com­po­si­tions. A teenage con­ser­va­to­ry prodi­gy Blais end­ed up reject­ing clas­si­cal train­ing in favour of exper­i­men­ta­tion and on Thurs­day June 22^nd he brings his Polaris Prize nom­i­nat­ed debut album to the West End Cul­tur­al Cen­tre as part of the 2017 TD Win­nipeg Inter­na­tion­al Jazz Festival.
